We left the office early today to celebrate the launch of Cartmel Primary School's new booklet the 'Cartmel Curiosity Trail'. Claire has been working hard on this project alongside the Friends of Cartmel School, local historians, the children and teachers of the school. The booklet is absolutely fantastic and offers an insightful trail around Cartmel suitable for all ages. It is packed with history about Cartmel making it a very interesting read. The booklet will be sold in local shops to raise money for the school providing the friends with a steady ongoing income year round.
It got me thinking about how important volunteers are to schools. We are both active members of the PTA at our children's schools. This includes, attending meetings, planning, organising and executing events, keeping an eye on the finances and liaising with the school about spending the money appropriately. It can be tiring and stressful at times but its so worth it! To see the children smiling at the school disco or to find out how much you have raised after a large event. Its so rewarding to know that you are making a difference. This evening the headteacher of Cartmel Primary School, Mrs Battersby, gave a speech thanking all the volunteers involved in the process. This is so important! Showing your volunteers how appreciated they are means a lot. It makes it all worth while.
So, back to the event. Well what can I say? It was amazing! Lovely drinks, cakes and of course pizza!
The atmosphere was fantastic, parents and children arrived excited to see the booklet. All the children received a free copy to thank them for their contributions.
