H O W - I T - A L L - S T A R T E D

Claire and I often get asked where it all started.
How do you two know each other?
How did Welburn & Wood Fundraising Solutions come to be?

Well, for those of you are interested to know more... here is the story. Claire and I were first introduced to one another when we both became Trustees of Flookburgh and District Recreational Trust in 2014. This small local charity was set up to transform a muddy field into large playground. Flookburgh is a small village in Cumbria and was in desperate need of a fun, exciting and inclusive play area for people of all ages to enjoy. Claire and I both shared a passion for the project and couldn't wait to get to work. We spent any free time we had planning, meeting playground suppliers, arranging community events and grant writing. The fundraising target was £175k. A goal that sometimes felt unreachable but by November 2017 the playground was officially opened. The charity trustees and local community were so pleased with the finished project and it still well used to this day.

Following this success, Claire and I kept in touch. We knew that one day we would work together but the time just wasn't right. In 2019, following my redundancy, Claire and I started to make plans for our future as business partners. The pandemic got in the way of our plans but we came back strong in 2021 and ventured into our first joint project. Welburn & Wood Fundraising Solutions was born and we are  grateful to be working together to this day.

Claire and I have a shared appreciation of Take That, musical theatre, chocolate & cake - we think this is a great foundation for a business partnership. We also have skills that compliment each other wonderfully. Together we are the perfect combination. We are proud to be Welburn & Wood, we love what we do and look forward to each working day.
